Transy Farm Lane... Abandoned (Part 9)

I forget how long its been since you could walk or drive up this lane. When my brother started Primary School he became friends with the boy who lived in the farm house up this lane. So for many a year (must have been about ten?) we would go and play on the farm, build gang huts and the like.

Eventually the family moved out of the farm house and it lay dormant for a long time. The lane became overgrown and the small cottage at the end of the lane (you can see the chimney in the picture) changed owners and they didn't care to keep the lane functioning. They built the small fence that you can see to block the lane about a third of the way up.

The farm house was eventually demolished and a new housing estate built on the land. We often walk through the area on our trips to the park or town and its difficult to remember exactly where everything used to be.

One of my best memories of this lane was walking home in the pitch dark with my brother after seeing my first video horror movie unsupervised by parents. I think it was the first anyway, I certainly remember us both being spooked walking along in the pitch dark hearing noises all the way to the end of the lane and the main road to our house...
