Fun, but irresponsible

Oh dear! Despite late nights on Friday and Saturday, common sense still didn't enter into things today. Instead, the day developed into a very extended viewing marathon in Carl's Kino, beginning with Knocked Up and continuing with The Brother and Casino Royale. A slight touch of irresponsibility was added by the consumption of four bottles of wine between us -- oh dear, indeed!

Ten minutes into Knocked Up (pictured) we were tempted to give up on it, but this improved dramatically in the middle before going just too predictably soppy at the end. Rating, 3/5. The Brother was a gutsy, made-on-the-cheap Russian movie, set against a backdrop of the sleazy side of St Petersburg (which is currently top of the list as this year's holiday destination -- coupled with Helsinki). Rating, 4/5. Casino Royale turned out to be much better than I'd expected, Daniel Craig was an excellent Bond, and the opening sequence was stunning. The final fifteen minutes with the plot twist and the move to Venice was a big mistake. Rating 3.5/5.

That's it about the day, really. Nothing else to report.
