Beauty of Car Trouble

I usually get the train to work but am now having to reconsider my green lifestyle as the car is starting to get lonely and feeling sorry for itself. The poor thing sometimes goes weeks without being used and so it has started to rebel.

It had a bit of a tantrum last Friday and would not start. It turned out that the battery was completely flat. Is not surprising really given the fact that it seems to be a big computer on wheels that does not get used much. The local garage charged it up for us over the weekend and brought it back on Monday.

After worrying all week that it needed a run I decided I had to take it to work this morning. I got up and out a bit earlier than the usual stupid o'clock that I have to leave just in case it would not start and I would have to then catch the train.

Clutching todays music choice of Babybird and M.Ward I jumped in the motor and hit the start button. It started though it was not convincing, especially when I tried to lower the electric window and it only came down an inch at a time.

At least it had started. Luckily for me I had got in the car early as I then spent ten minutes trying to work out how to input the radio code. I managed though I don't really know how.

So then we were off, due to the window issue I decided to ration the use of the fan so it all started a bit cold and misty. Manic wiping and inching the window seemed to help though, which was lucky, as about a mile later I saw the most beautiful sunrise coming over the water. I was not sure whether to risk pulling over to take a picture but decided if I got the chance I would consider it.

So around the next corner I came to some lights and decided to head for the Harvester carpark. A good blip is worth the risk. As I was waiting at the lights I tried the window again and it worked properly. The car was coming out of its coma, hooray!

So I parked up and left her running whilst I legged it up a little slope to take this shot. Thankfully the car stayed running and did not get nicked. It must be feeling much better now as it even got me all the way home.

I do feel though that the battery could be on its way out, but lets see how it is in the morning. I think I may have to start driving in one day a week from now on, just when I though my carbon footprint was getting a little better as well!
