About The Joy Monger
I am a native Puerto Rican with a passion for writing, mental health awareness and journalism. I was born on June 30, 1992 in Saint Louis, Missouri, and moved to Houston, Texas two weeks later. At the age of six, my family and I returned to my beloved Puerto Rico where I lived until higher education brought me to the southern town of Chapel Hill. A rising junior at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, I am the co-founder of Rethink: Psychiatric Illness, a student organization dedicated to running mental health sensitization trainings at UNC. I also love meeting new people and telling their stories with a pen and a camera.
