Welcome to my journal. I'm Robbert, live together with S. in Rotterdam (Netherlands), and to get straight to it: I do not consider myself as a great photographer. I recently bought my first DSLR: a Nikon D60, Nikon's camera for people just like me, who keep saying that the poor quality of their photos is a result of poor quality material, and not because they lack talent. So, I too bought a DSLR in the hope that my photos would easily compete with professional photographers's shots. Well, obviously not.

So I took on Blipping. This was my first Blip entry.


I consider blipping as a method of improving myself, and as a method of actually taking photos. Before The Blip I sometimes left my camera in a corner of the couch for weeks. Now I at least consider taking a photo each day (however I do not promise that the camera-in-a-corner-of-the-couch-weeks or -days won't ever come up again. But now they will be accompanied by a horrible guilty feeling...).

I could just as well have named my journal What you see is what you get, for the lack of using Photoshop or filters. But that wouldn't be very honest, for it would sound like some sort of principle thing. The fact is that I am just starting to explore the photography world, and my first priority is to get to understand my camera.

About the name of the journal: nothing fancy about it, it's just my last name. I would like to say that my shots are aggresive and wolf-like, but that's kind of ironic if you look at many of my entries...

One hundred blips after writing the former part of this about page, and I must say, everything has changed. Blip brought me a lot: I see things now, for one thing, and I think I have improved quite a bit on my photography skills. Linked to that is my growing need for better gear :-) Furthermore I haven't missed a day yet, which I find quite impressive, knowing myself. So Blip also taught me to be more disciplined and less perfectionist (although the latter is still a challenge every day..).

All in all, quite happy to be here :-)
