This picture represents the third of the definitions above. I live in London, where you can go for years without ever seeing a neighbour, but I'm very lucky to live in a block of flats where all 6 neighbours are on first name terms with each other.
It's really nice knowing that there are people around to look after the place if I'm away, and to take in parcels etc. One of our neighbours also keeps us up-to-date with the gossip from the rest of the street too. She finds out everything!
