Grumpy Old Man

The last day

Another hazy start to the day - we were off to Ramsey in the NE of the island, the second largest town. Our last ride on the steam train to Douglas, then back on the Electric Tram all the way to Ramsey. The sun came out en route which was good as we'd chosen the open carriage and there was quite a wind off the sea!

Our first port of call was the Milntown Estate just outside the town and my Blip today. We'd booked a table for lunch there - very good as it turned out. Rather oddly, after yesterday's celebrity sighting, the waitress said that she was sure that she'd seen me before - was I on TV? When I said no, she asked if I was a photographer!

We had a walk round the beautiful garden and on the way out the waitress tried again! She said 'I'm sure I'll remember after you've gone'! I wonder who I look like?

We walked back into town and had a look around, ending up on the enormously long beach which was crowded - with about six people! Where is everybody? Crossing the harbour bridge we had an afternoon cuppa at the swimming pool cafe then back to the station for the Electric Tram back to Douglas. The open carriage was gone, so we were inside.

A quick fish and chip carry-out overlooking the sea, then the bus back to the house for the last time. The house is my extra today. Now off to pack - we'll need to leave at 6.45 tomorrow morning to catch the early ferry.

Quote of the Day: 'You can't beat a British holiday for rock pooling and sandcastles with fish and chips on the seafront - perfect. - Kate Garraway.
