Now, as I see it......

Locarno

A day of travelling which pretty much went to plan.  We caught our plane to Zurich which was a little bit late.  Long queue for passport control in Zurich but we got through in time to catch our train to the centre.  A very short time to change trains but we managed, and then a very pleasant journey for around three hours through some spectacular scenery to our destination in Locarno.  We're here for two nights before we move on but unfortunately the weather forecast is pretty awful, so we will have to dig out the wet weather gear.

We had one little scare on arrival in Locarno.  The last leg of the journey was for about 20 minutes on a local train from Bellinzona.  While waiting for the connection a Swedish lady who lived in Cannes latched onto us when she realised we were staying at the same hotel.  Quite friendly and chatty but casually racist and frankly, we just wanted to get away from her.  We got off the train and were looking around for about 15 minutes for the minibus collecting us for the hotel when I spotted someone walking down the platform with my shoulder bag, which contained our tickets, passports, iPad etc.  In our rush to get away I'd left it on the train and completely forgot about it!  Thankfully it ended up well but I dread to think what we would have done if I'd not spotted him.

I believe this is my 4,000th blip but I haven't really had a chance to do anything special for it.  Our hotel overlooks Lake Maggiore but this is a view from the back of the hotel up to a sanctuary church behind us.
