My name is Norman Mowatt.
I live in Campbeltown, Kintyre, Argyll.
On the West coast of Scotland.
Kintyre is a peninsula with islands all around. Almost at the South end of the peninsula it feels quite like an island in Campbeltown. We even have a ferry in the summer time.

I am fortunate to live by the sea, which I have been grateful to be able to do for the greater part of my life. I have lived on Scotland's Western Isles, on Orkney (my paternal family line was from Hoy), the West coast,  the East coast, and now I am back in the West. The interaction between the sea and the land, and walking by the shore, are things I have realised I need to have in my life.

I have had various cameras over the years, and have enjoyed digital photography since its early days. I use a tiny pocketable Lumix DMC-FS16, a Lumix DMC-LX7, an Olympus E-PL5, and a Lumix DC-TZ90.

I sometimes make prints and paint too and love strong colour, hence the journal title ... inspired by the Scottish Colourist Leslie Hunter who once declared that his would be "the way of colour"

P.S. Thats me with Fergus the little dog. We were watching waves at Westport beach.

A philosophy that leads me to sometimes enjoy looking so closely at things that are all around me ...

One talks about everything in life in a way which shows that there is really nothing ordinary or mean on earth but all is extraordinary, and that the discovery of the extraordinary in the ordinary is more exiting than talking of the extraordinary ...
