Ex-pat in France for many years now - at present living on the Blue Coast west of Marseille, which is beautiful.  I love popping down to the coast (10 kms) to capture a new image.  Every time I go there I see something new, or see things in a different way, which is why I recommend visiting places several times and at different seasons or times of the day.
I've been into photography as a hobby for a long time having done a City and Guilds course in the subject back in the 80s - spending hours and hours in the darkroom.  Ah! Those were the days!
But I see that digital photography has completely transformed the art with results more stunning than previously achieved - especially as the darkroom has been replaced by computer software and Photoshop.  Yes, developing the photographic eye is paramount, but learning to use the tools of the trade to enhance the visualized image is also important.
Both - I would very much like to improve and joining Blip is one way for me to try and keep my creative juices flowing - when I have time! I love to see what other people are producing and I see so many excellent images.
My outlook towards photography I call 'communing with nature' - and I'm glad to see so many others doing the same.  It's a beautiful world we live in and photography slows us down to take time to look at it and appreciate it.
