I am a Glasgow-based photographer who worked as a freelance years ago for UK publications, including amateur photographic and countryside magazines. Now I use my camera purely for enjoyment. It helps me look at the world afresh.
Currently, I use an  Olympus mirrorless camera - an E-M10  with 14- 42mm and 75-300mm lenses. I also have a Sony Cybershot RX100_III which has a pop-up viewfinder in bright light, and is unobtrusive to use for candid shots. I don't hesitate to take pictures with my iPhone 5, if that's what I have to hand. I enjoy living close to a vibrant city with its colourful characters, while having the Scottish landscape and its seasonal variations on the doorstep.
The challenge after 5 years of membership is to find new subjects, learn about them and improve observation and imagination. Or course, others use Blipfoto as more of a diary, but my intent lies in capturing an interesting photograph - an aspect of the world I inhabit.  I've not motivated to read about strangers' everyday lives, and I don't comment on my own life or follow many people. That's my approach.
