Hi, I'm Sloggs. I've been 'taking photos' most of my life, but having just turned 40 would like to learn a bit more about photography and get more creative with it.

Having found this site and being inspired recently, I've upgraded from my trusty old point-and-shoot Canon Ixus, which went around the world with me and survived, to a 'Bridge Camera' - a Nikon L810. I didn't want to spend a fortune, but do want to take better quality pictures, plus I hope I can learn about picture composition with this upgrade. Maybe one day when I'm all grown up, I'll treat myself to an DSLR.

Anyway, I consider myself a total newbie with regards photography, so comments or suggestions are welcome and I hope I get the bug...

I'll be starting out by simply taking a few pictures each day. I might have to use my iPhone for some as situation may find me without my camera!

First off I want to start out a little project of taking pictures of textures & objects around my home and work space. Gives me something to start out with and perhaps will teach me a bit about lighting, angles, composition and some of the cameras functions. Also there are plenty of things I can point at to start with!

Also like playing in Macro mode, so will be trying to take more close ups...

Thanks for looking and for any comments.
Cheers
