Photography has been a much-loved hobby for most of my life, and I have started to work on it more seriously in the last few years.

Blipfoto was a wonderful discovery - it makes me get out and take pictures  every day when otherwise I would probably have just thought wistfully about it. Thanks to the progress I've made through regular blipping, I've gone on to join the Royal Photographic Society and gained my ARPS distinction in October 2014.

I’ve discovered I am pretty much a monochrome photographer at heart, but with broad tastes in subject matter: people pictures, landscapes, street and abstracts for the most part - with a particular interest in environmental portraits and images of the Kentish countryside and coast.

I live in Canterbury with my wife and five sons, and I earn my living as a local GP. You can see more of my images on my Flickr photostream at www.flickr.com/photos/danhortonszar
