A Splinter in Your Mind

"Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad."

- Morpheus (The Matrix)

While Morpheus here gives what I think is one of the best descriptions of a delusional mood I have heard, the Wachowski brothers aren't generaly accepted authorities on psychiatric phenomenology. Jaspers on the other hand, is. This is a page of the English translation of his Allgemeine Psychopathologie (General Psychopathology) that deals with the phenomenon of delusional mood - in a rather wordier fashion than Morpheus (who doesn't think that's what he's describing at all). ;-)

Oh, and in the foreground is the espresso I made myself with my little baby coffee machine which I took in to my office at work when we got our big daddy machine for home. 8)
