Hundreds of AS Roma fans arrive by ferry from the main train station in Venice before Venezia-Roma, flying flags and ringing the ship's bell. Roma under Fabio Capello had a poor record against bottom-placed teams late in the season - Venezia were already relegated by this stage but still went 2-0 up. Two late penalties from Pierluigi Collina saw Vincenzo Montella score in the 86th and 89th minute. The second penalty was greeted with unbridled joy in the away end.
