Fritillaria Meleagris

These Snake's Head Fritillaries don't flower for long unfortunatelly, but for me it's a sign of spring and it's good to see plants in the garden start to flower. I raised some seeds nearly 30 years ago and the patch continues to spread, a mix of purple and white. What amuses me is this species is so named because it is spotted like a guinea fowl.

Thank goodness flowers are silent!
