Portrait in a New York Garden

These are our friends visiting from California (my wife has known them since 1970), with their daughter. She's a third year medical student in New York; her father is originally from Israel and her mother from England.

We had a great time together today, visiting the Tenement Museum on the lower East Side, which vividly presents America's urban immigrant history. Afterward we briefly visited this community garden on East 6th Street (one of several we passed), before going to dinner. It has drizzled constantly the past two days--hence the luminous green in the background.
