Le notaire de village existe encore

Nil-Saint-Vincent Saint Martin, the church of St Vincent, built in 1783. This morning, I drove to the square of the church to visit the notary and sign the deed for my new apartment in Louvain-la-Neuve. The notary office is a huge house in a walled garden behind the church. A wise notary that has counselled me on every 'legal act' I've had to do in my life in Belgium....he could tell you a thing or two.
