Grove Drive

I failed to avoid the early start for swimming this morning after ignoring the alarm and then waking up anyway. After the swimathon Toddler had a party to go to for lunch and Wife bravely took her and her friend along whilst Baby and I headed out for a picnic.

We walked them to the party on the way and then planned to go to the common. Not very long after leaving them we noticed signs for a charity table top sale at some houses on the way which was just starting, so we popped in for a mooch around.

Basically most of the street were they with stalls raising money for a child called Daniel who lived there. Daniel has Cerebal Palsy and they are trying to raise £50000 to pay for ground breaking treatment only available in America.

After purchasing some bric a brac and some books we decided that we could not avoid the tea and cake and so our picnic ended up being in someones back garden, and what a garden it was. It was possibly the nicest garden I have ever seem in Portsmouth with the most perfect lawn.

During our cake eating we bought some raffle tickets after which we saw the prizes that were up for grabs, one of which Baby took a real shine to, a little rocking horse. We then realised that we had been enjoying the event so much that Wife and Toddler would soon be finishing at the party and so there was no point going for a walk now, so we had some more cake.

Once we picked Wife and Toddler up again I told Wife about the sale and thought she may want a look so we went that way home. Whilst WIfe had look at the books I took Baby back to the horse where he got even more attached so much so that he threw a complete wobbler when we went back to Wife.

Suddenly the raffle was upon us and the first ticket out was a owned by the daughter of the lady selling the tea and cake who had seen Baby's attachment to the horse. The daughter walked up to the prizes picked up the horse and presented it to Baby saying she wanted him to have it. I couldn't believe how kind she was and tried to refuse but she insisted.

Thankfully a few pulls from the hat later one of my tickets came out so I could return the favour to the daughter.

Lovely people helping for a good cause, I hope they get all the cash they need.
