Sue Foll's picture of the day

By POD2008

Well, why?

Great day apart from the early start. I fell asleep at 10pm last night which meant I was awake at 5.30am, but bursting with ideas about how to promote my photo's. Got up and on with it, but crashed out again at 9am for a couple of hours.

After an early lunch I headed for Battersea where there was a spectacular thunderstorm and roaring gales. I thought my pic of the day might be a bleary shot from Battersea bridge with the Thames rolling and cursing by.

However it cleared, just as I discovered Carters Steam Fair on the west side of the park. An original 1940's funfair that looked too delicate and beautiful for the public to be let loose in.

I took LOTS of pictures and it was impossible to choose which to include as my picture of the day. In the end, I chose this one, because it summed up my mood. It's the name of a truck in fact and the name plate is on the radiator at the front.

After my parking meter ran out (yes I drove today... what a treat), I went to Tate Britain to see the Camden Town Group... marvelous! every Londoner should see it.

There are two things about it that will stay with me. Walter Sickerts' series of paintings about the relationship of couples and their ambiguity, based on the Camden Town murder. Also a facsimile copy of the Daily Mail from 1907 which had a front page puff (promotion of contents) in HEBREW. Now would you see one in Polish today?
