Marjorie's ramblings

Such a romantic flower

I'm not sure why I think that Astrantia major is romantic, but I like the delicate ephemeral appearance of the blooms. They look terrible as they go over and I try to cut them back as soon as they reach that stage. This plant is hidden in a shady spot so has flowered later than the others. I like the effect of the shallow depth of field with a little selective sharpening of the flowers.

Not much to report about today. It rained a lot. Took Mum to optician's - new lenses needed to be changed. A woman arrived in a great state. One of her contact lenses was stuck and she needed help to dislodge it. She was the mother of the groom and the wedding was about 3 hours later. The bride was in tears because there was something wrong with the flowers and a local florist had been called in to provide more. The assistant recounted how she got married in a registry office with 2 witnesses 30 years ago and went paddling at the seaside afterwards. "I never regretted it" she said.

We came back to the calm of our home..........
