Glorious...

Our garden has about 3ft of soil then a bed of solid clay so it often gets sodden after heavy rain. The grass has always seemed to recover though.

Until we got chickens.

They seem to head for the wettest, muddiest patch and then completely destroy it. My visions of sweet clucking following us around the garden and a steady supply of free eggs has been replaced by shit everywhere and a garden that looks like the Somme.

All of a sudden eggs from the supermarket seem good value.
