Rowan Norway on OHT Hawk

This is the delivery off Burntisland in the Forth of the latest jack-up rig, the Rowan Norway, newly arrived from Singapore. It was transported aboard a converted oil tanker called the 'Hawk' and owned by Norwegian Oil Company 'Offshore Heavy Transport' (OHT).

It arrived yesterday, and today, I expected it to be offloaded. There were two tugs in attendance, the 'Castle Point' seen in this image to the stern of the 'Hawk', and the much larger 'Toisa Daring' (out of shot). By mid-afternoon, the tide was falling and the two tugs withdrew so I assume nothing will happen for a while yet.

To offload, the 'Hawk' will flood its tanks so that it partially submerges and the rig can be floated off sideways. It will then be towed round to Dundee for a final kitting out.
