View from a hot tub

Went for another long walk today - off to Monmouth along the River Wye, a round trip of 20 km. The countryside was beautiful and it was another perfect day for walking. Lots of signs of wild boar activity along the edges of the tracks. We found an apple tree in the hedgerow full of bright red apples - had to grab a couple and ate them as we walked.

We had a decadent session in the hot tub to ease our aching muscles when we got back. This was followed by G&Ts on the balcony while we read for a couple of hours.

We went out with a Forest Ranger on a night walk with night vision scopes in the evening. As it is the rutting season, the female deer were not grazing in their usual spot. We did see a couple of young males at the edge of a field and a few rabbits. It was still good fun and we got to hear tawny owls calling and a long eared brown bat hunting for insects round a street lamp.
