A work in progress

1095. There you are. A year later than you should have been .. but it'll always be a year behind. And that's just fine by me. Looking forward, one day at a time.

More and more, I am so happy that I use this site to catalog the days and the moments and the thoughts that creep across my path. I want to say that taking a photo every day makes me sane, but really... it probably contributes to a little bit of my insanity. (Understatement.) I am elated that I am in the position to take a photo every single day during medical school. I couldn't have planned that better if I had tried. It's something that I want to do. It's a part of who I am. My day is not complete without a photo and a few words to jot down. Still excited to see where this goes.

Today was shaping up to be a pretty stellar day... then the afternoon hit and I realized that I had hit a wall. Maybe I'm not working out enough to keep the endorphins pumping.. or maybe it's that it's Friday night and I have to study tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night, and Sunday solid for our first neuroanatomy exam on Monday morning. And there is so much information and so little time to learn it all in. We're all in this together. Just breathe. Rinse. Repeat.

A fellow TCOMrade, Ryan, I shall call him (because that's his name) came up to Lauren (another TCOMrade) and me at the Gingerman this evening during our DOCtoberfest happy hour for 1st-4th yr medical students and mentioned that we both looked nice.
Lauren: "I took a shower."
Liz: "I took a nap."

That pretty much sums up our lives right now. And with the events of the past two weeks staring me in the face, that's all I've got now. No more happy distractions, skypes to look forward to, sweet/encouraging text messages throughout the days. And scene. Lest this entry should turn into something dark, I'm going to lighten it up right about now. Focus on something else, Liz.

So this is also a TCOMrade, Shamyal. (And newest addition to blipfoto, I might add! Welcome aboard, SIR.) This is part 2 of a series we have going. Let's see if you can guess what it is. Maybe by the third installment if you haven't caught on already. Or maybe I gave it up in the first blip. Oh well. So much for intrigue.

5 things that made me happy today:
1. 1095th photo. Claro.
2. 5:30am bootcamp this morning AND we didn't get murdered by the coked out guy that tried to get in my car at the park. Huzzah! To live another day.
3. Took two naps today: the first from 7:20a-8a. The second from 4:45p-5:30p.
4. It's.......FRIDAY.
4. EDIT: TOMS shoes blogged about my friend George and used one of my photos on their blog today: CLICK ME. Pretty damn awesome. For George, his non-profit DigDeep, and little ol' me for having a little shout out in his blog. Thanks, G!
5. Taking photos of my friends and being social. What a rarity.

That which matters most should never give way to that which matters the least.
