Zoo Trip #17: Bristol Zoo

Saturday's trip to Bristol had two purposes. One was to attend the Steam Day taking place by the M Shed on the Floating Harbour, and the other was to accomplish October's zoo trip. Having successfully carried out both missions, of course, I was left with the struggle of which to blip. On the one hand, the steam crane and railway were more of an event, but on the other I have been following the progress of the lion cubs but haven't blipped them since June.

We were lucky to see the cubs at play, and the new baby lowland gorilla. It was also the last day of the year that the lemur walk-through was open and we were told they were more active that day than they had been for months.

A portfolio of the day trip is available at the link below, but as you see, the antics of the cubs held sway. They are a lot larger now, far more confident and have reached the stage where there is lots of play fighting, trying the patience of their father, Kamal, whose strategy was just to ignore them as they leaped over him and hung from him by their claws. Here they are at play with each other, as their mother Shiva looks down on them.
