Tom Kitchin meets school chefs

After yesterday's public sector protest, which include lots of teachers demonstrating to protect their pay and conditions (because that's what pensions are - deferred pay), this morning's photocall was a small example of the great work teachers do. Celebrity chef Tom Kitchin was at Granton Primary School to officially open the school's 'Granton Gourmets' project. Tom, whose Michelin star restaurant The Kitchin provided the project with a £640 bursary, spoke with a group of aspiring young chefs in the fully equipped kitchen in the school. However, the project was originally the brainchild of teacher Kaukab Stewart who brought her own passion for cooking to the pupils. Today was the culmination of months of work going back to August. For her the project not only nurtures good health and wellbeing, it also teaches social skills through cooking and healthy eating. Tom and Mrs Stewart with four of the pupils in the kitchen.
