End of an era

We all went out with RCB to find his final blip of his 2011 challenge. Here he is beside the Tay in Perth and just out of camera the Male Goosander is swimming over for the photoshoot.

In the end he managed to photograph 281 birds, plus another 9 that were seen/heard to bring his year list total to 290. An impressive total but in this internet age of instant information, it's not really about birding skills, more about how much you're willing to spend on petrol.

So the resolutions for 2012 are to increase the birding skills and reduce the spend on petrol and to never, ever, ever chase another year list.

Mmmm, I see there's a Bufflehead down in Cornwall.....
