when I'm not cleaning windows

I've managed to avoid giving the windows their annual clean so far this year for various reasons but most importantly because they're getting taken down and tarted up on Thursday and will hopefully either be cleaned by the fixing-people or will be able to be cleaned prior to their replacement without having to stand outside on the window ledge to get at the outside. Hopefully a side-effect of the tarting-up will be the ability to make both sides of the window swing into the room to get at the outside pane whereas at the moment this can only be achieved with half the window. Of course, there's always a downside and in this case it's the fact that shiny new windows will only cause more people walking along the opposite pavement to stare in when passing; maybe the ceiling is all they can see of the flat above whereas the tantalising glimpse of kitchen cupboard visible to a person of sensible height seems to be as magnetic to the eyes as bottoms, things which look like money from the middle-distance and car accidents. The bonus will be increased and less-scattered sunlight in the flat on weekend mornings for the next couple of months and less apparent shame for having filthy grimy windows.
