Customer Service - lack of

If you are not in the mood for reading a rant - I suggest you listen to this instead.

This well known software package comes with a "no quibble 6 month guarantee". I decided that I would take them up on this because the software 1. isn't very good and 2. I prefer a bit more in-depth understanding when I'm learning. So I headed to the website and tried to access the global returns page for the .co.uk branch of the company (the one I bought it from). This redirected me to the German homepage. It redirected me even when I unchecked the redirect box in 2 different browsers.

The German company won't reimburse me because I bought it from the British company.

I got a friend to send me what was on the global returns page. It had a telephone number that I had to call to get an RMA number (you need one of these to return software because apparently the receipt and the software aren't enough proof). A freephone number in the UK. That came up as unobtainable when I tried to phone.

I asked a friend to phone it to get the RMA number. He had all sorts of problems getting them to spell my name correctly and then they started muttering about deactivating my pc. He asked them for a number so that I could call them. This presented them with Difficulties because it is TOP SECRET. The nice man then promised to send me the number by email.

He hasn't.

I found a the delivery notice for the software and spotted that it has another telephone number in Britain. I dialled it. Went through the automated switchboard and pressed 4 for returns and then....

"We're sorry but we're experiencing technical difficulties just now and cannot take your call"

Really?

That is Not Good Enough. These people charge premium prices for their product and they do not back it up with the appropriate level of Customer Service. Do not buy from them. Seriously, don't. The on-line Deutsche Welle course is free and is a lot more useful (in my opinion).

Oh and be glad I didn't start on the "It takes between 4 and 6 weeks to process a refund when we receive the software". Or the "You have to pay the return postage and we don't refund that". Arschlöcher.

That's not a word you learn in their course.
