Tawny

There is is something compelling about owls, both for birdwatchers and non-birdwatchers alike, as evdienced by my comments at work - "I've just been to see a grasshopper warbler" will elicit a blank look, explain that it is a small brown bird that it is a summer visitor and they start yawning. "I've just been to see a Tawny Owl" elicits an "oh wow!".

Anyway, "I've just been out to see a Tawny Owl" and it's brought my year total for the local patch up to 60. Checking against the records for my fellow birders I find that I now have a BI of 0.697. This is up from day one with my lowly 0.636, but I have slipped a little from my day two high of 0.747.
