Spring Flutter

I walked along the beach this afternoon and was surprised to see a butterfly flitting about. It settled briefly to sun itself on a sandstone rock allowing me to capture this blip.

I was also surprised at what good condition it was in. Those awakening from hibernation are usually paler and more tatty specimens.

It is of course a 'small tortoiseshell butterfly, Aglais urticae.
