A sad day

My mother's older sister Anne, died today at the age of 89. She has been treading the dementia path for several years now. I know people say that it is often a 'blessed release' when someone dies after a long and debillitating illness and in some ways I can understand that but I find it hard to let go of someone that easily.

I prefer to remember the immaculately dressed Aunt who wore pearls, drank whiskey and lemonade and loved a good row on Boxing Day.

I bought a silly, blingy, sparkly ring today. Before I heard the news. She would've loved it. So I will be wearing it at her funeral.
