Life in Sunny Dubai

By GadgetKid

Easter Sunday Morning...

A very very early rise for me and flatmate Geraldine to get to a 5:30am service at Holy Trinity Church! Made it just in time though parking was a challenge. I had a 5 minute walk (which is a lot in this rather hot country)! To explain... Holy Trinity is located in the heart of town near 5 schools and the Catholic Church. It seemed everyone was attending a Sunrise Service this morning so the "compound" was full of people - who meet in their own groups to worship in their own language (mainly from the Indian Subcontinent and also Africa and the Far East). Sunday is an ordinary working day here, so many people would have gone on to do a normal days's work. Those who can't make it that early try to get to an evening service after work, unless their Church group cant get a place to meet at all, in which case, they would have had their Easter service on Friday!

For me, it was great to see people of all nations and ages meeting together to celebrate the basis of the Christian faith. There was breakfast laid out which people heartily tucked into and a teenager who I had never met before offered me a Cadbury mini egg which was much appreciated as I was starving by this stage!

We then got some Caribou Coffee and croissants and headed to favourite beauty spot -- Dubai Creek to watch the boats, and birds and life in general followed by a quiet, relaxed day.
