There is a fantastic architectural masterpiece at the edge of our city called 'The Corn Exchange', and this is the subject for today's picture.

Corn Exchanges were common in town and cities across the UK, as they were traditionally the places where farmers and merchants traded cereal grains. This particular exchange is from the Victorian era (1862) and is just one of three corn exchanges in the country which still operates in its traditional capacity as a centre for trade, although no longer for corn.

It's a hugely impressive site and I hope the image does it justice by portraying that. The roof is the pièce de résistance of this building - a partly glazed dome with semi-elliptical and semicircular iron ribs run across the full length creating an eye-catching marvel.

I hope you enjoy seeing a part of my city! :)
