Vital Attention to Detail

One of the ships in Leith Docks today was the Gulmar Da Vinci, a saturation diving and ROV support vessel. This winch is used to lower divers to the seabed up to 300m down in a pressurised diving bell. These specialist divers remain saturated at seabed pressure (30 times normal air pressure) breathing a mixture of helium and oxygen called Heliox for weeks on end, as it is safer than returning to atmospheric pressure between each dive. They rely completely on a complex system of equipment, including this winch. So I'm glad to see someone is looking after it!

We went to see the film "Salmon Fishing in Yemen" at Ocean Terminal. I'm glad we saw it - it's a very calming and pleasant film, charming and amusing in places.
