Life's Little Moments

Hey, did you see that?

Psst - lady, did you see what just happened over there?
Me:  do you mean the unfortunate "incident" involving the bee?
Yea.  Did you see how quickly Boris launched himself at the bee?
Me:  What, you didn't hear my Hubs let out a little manly scream?
Huh.  So that is what that noise was.  Hard to tell with these little ears...

So Hubs and I decided to take a little trip to the Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg today.  It was amazingly quiet, considering that this is a Saturday, and very peaceful just wandering around the gardens.  They have a couple of flamingos which was a pleasant surprise.  But the show-stealers were definitely all the little Brown Anoles (lizards) that seemed to be on every plant and step and warm surface.

We had stopped to watch two of them who were head-bobbing at each other on the walkway - kind of expecting/hoping to see a little fight break out.  So imagine our surprise when a bee landed just a bit too close and before you could even scream "Look out!", one of the lizards had pounced!  It spent a few seconds juggling the bee and then scraped it against the walkway (maybe dislodging the stinger), before swallowing it.  In one gulp.  It was pretty cool!  I did manage to get a few shots of the lizard with the bee, but I liked this shot better.  I've posted one of the others on Flickr - to see it, along with five others, click HERE.  The lizard w/bee is the second one in.  And for you arachnaphobes, best that you skip the 4th shot.

I think we may head out for sushi tonight.  We'll see what we feel like later.  And tomorrow we are off to Homosassa...another adventure before the rain arrives on Monday...

Very happy to have Hubs home.

Five more sleeps...
