Welcoming In The New Year

The fireworks were over and we were heading down the beach back to our apartment. Last year, there were dozens of these hot air balloons being released into the night sky. This year far fewer, but we did walk right by a group setting a couple adrift. I took my monopod along this year, so I was able to shoot a a very low shutter speed and still get a relatively sharp image. I liked the reflections of the lights on the water, so I didn't crop in too tightly, leaving lots of dark space to balance the bright areas of the balloon.
