Massive Mallard

One of these is not like the others...

What a strange sight: I went to the Isis by Christ Church Meadow, and spotted this very peculiar mallard. He looks like a hybrid mallard goose and is absolutely huge! He thinks he's a normal mallard and behaves like one (quacking and doing their normal courtship moves), but is almost twice the size of all the others. I've put up a whole load of shots of him on Flickr (with other animals for scale), so do take a look if you're interested (right from here).

The other two highlights of my walk were seeing a muntjac deer (on the other side of the Cherwell: I got no photo but it was a thrill to see the little thing!) AND finding O.G. still mooching with its parents.
