Desperately seeking

Treading Carefully

Kat asked if we wanted to go anywhere in particular this morning Forgetting that, at this time of year, lochs might be frozen, I suggested Duddingston Loch.

Most of the birds were too far away to photograph well but there were a few swans and geese near the edge, walking very carefully on the ice. After we had got as cold as we wanted to, we went for a drink in the Sheep Heid, Scotland's oldest inn, dating back to the days of King James VI. (That had me confused for a minute until I translated it to James I.

The weather was said to be worsening so we said our goodbyes and headed back down over the border.
