Interrupted Light

Let battle commence

We have a special blood-sport to entertain us when we have guests staying. It appears to be a perfectly harmless board game with very simple rules - even those well-lubricated by an evening sampling the local wines can play. But, played in the traditional Spanish way, it is competitive bordering on the vicious.
Friends and relatives start off in such good humour but after surprisingly few throws of the dice the beast within is released, years of happy companionship are ended and divorces are threatened. M. and S. survived but are clamouring for a rematch tonight. If the dice are unkind this may be my last blip. Think only good of me.

Ludo (Parchís in Spanish). Available from any good toy store.
