The Lozarithm Lens

Foxhangers (Sunday 8th February 2015)

I was surprised to discover that this was my first 2015 visit to the Kennet and Avon canal. When I parked at Marsh Lane I was intending to spend a few minutes checking for kingfishers before re-parking at the top of the hill to look at the resident swans. When I got down to the canal and noticed the broken ice and the still reflections below the lowering sun I found myself walking westwards along it.

I walked past Foxhangers Cottage and up to Foxhangers Canal Holidays and the Caen Hill Marina. Along the way I met a man and his dog who was using binoculars to check the levels of the bird feeders he had installed on the footpath opposite so he could replenish where necessary.

I have been put off visiting the area near the marina as lots of security measures have been put in place by both enterprises and there is far less access to any part of the land not on the towpath than before. One can now only gaze at the marina from the opposite side of the canal, and there are ugly warning signs and new fencing spoiling the views.

This blip was taken at 1705 hr, looking back at the end of my walk, and was again taken while trying out my new 55mm prime lens.
