Lenten purple

The first rhododendron to flower in Benmore Gardens? I don't know, but it's the first blooms I've seen this year and they've just appeared. They look slightly startled, and not the full round puffballs of blooms we're accustomed to seeing later on in the year, but a welcome sight this Ash Wednesday nonetheless.
