Beverley

We travelled 'up north' to Beverley today to spend a few days at Forge Cottage on Broadgate Farm

It was a year ago we visited before, we like the area, and the accommodation and is handy to see my sister who lives in Cottingham. We arrived a little early to get the key for the cottage so went into Beverley for a walk around and a coffee, there are two Neros here! We parked on the common land known as Beverley Westwood and walked into town where we visited the museum and art gallery and climbed to the top of the tower in Treasure House, where the museum is based.

After coffee we took possession of the cottage and unwound. Later we went back into town for tea at Pizza Express and onto the second oldest, though most interesting, pub in Beverley, Nellie's - The White Horse, dating back to pre-1666. Comprising lots of small rooms, open fires and full of character, including gas lighting, I had an excellent pint of Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Bitter.

The picture is taken on the Westwood, this is one of three mills there, though the last working one is at Skidby, just down the road, where we are going for lunch tomorrow.
