Anatole's blips

Waves of apartments

A sea of modern tenements on the banks of the Thames at Battersea.

This one ... the 'Albion Riverside', is a curvy mass of brushed steel and blue glass facing the river, but a half doughnut of steel stripwork, looking rather like a landed spacecraft complete with legs on the landward side. The central plaza is mostly filled with a glass single storey gallery/estate agent office, which is rather a shame and looks rather as though it was added as an after thought. Maybe Foster got overruled by the client! Still, it is far nicer than his large cheap looking glass box next door which is very dull by comparison. They must be hideously expensive to heat and ventilate.
