83/365: New horizons

Went over to Hull today... or Kingston upon Hull to call it by its Sunday name :)

I've never been before mainly because I perhaps listened to other people who'd never been. To say it outdid my expectations would be a massive understatement - I thought it was great. So much history and loads to do and see - museums, art, historical pubs etc. A day simply wasn't enough. I'll be going back for sure.

This sculpture depicts people from Northern Europe who emigrated to America. They arrived in Hull docks, travelled by train to Liverpool where they then sailed across the Atlantic. Over 2 million people passed through Hull between 1836 and 1914.

A fascinating place.
