Dawn's Journal

The last day of my week off saw me blitzing the garden: I pruned the roses and Buddliea bush; cut back the shrubbery, ornamental grasses and thistles; and gave the flower beds a general weed and tidy.  Now all that remains is working out what to do with all the cuttings which are too woody for the compost bin (I later took steps to resolve that one by digging into the wallet and joining the local green waste club which provides a wheelie bin and fortnightly collection for such stuff)

All the while I was kept company by this little fella who flitted around the garden, digging up worms (downing one gulp!) and settling every now and then to sing loudly of the joys of spring.
