Ullswater

A great first day at LPH. After a fine English breakfast we set off for Gowbarrow Fell where we enjoyed some fine weather until 15:00, in fact just as had been forecast. The view over Ullswater to the Helvellyn range is magnificent. We also captured some shots of the impressive Aira Force waterfalls.

While the weather turned for the worse - horizontal rain, sleet and snow, - John was not ready to head back to base but took us to Dowthwaite. Despite the conditions some of the group's best shot were taken there, with barns, cottages, sheltering sheep (they're not stupid!) and, it goes without saying really, magnificent views.

Finally back to Fern Howe to dry out, have a nice hot shower and change ready for another of Gail's fab dinners. And an ale or two, all local and very drinkable.

After dinner we reviewed a selection of up to 10 pictures each that we'd captured during the day with John providing excellent feedback, advice and practical demonstrations of how to get the best from our images using readily available software.

A welcome cup of Horlicks before finishing well past 11 o'clock and then straight off to bed. Zzzzzzz.
