I got an unexpected chance to take a walk in the forest today. The Best Mate is used to seeing deer here and his eyes are sharp for spotting them. This one wasn't too far away and luckily the dog sat still, as he does when he sees the cameras come out.

This roe deer is wild rather than a "Parkland" deer so it is a real treat to see it and have it watch us, carefully deciding what to do. I'm carefully watching her and deciding what to do! Will it be landscape orientation or portrait? Luckily, she stood for quite a while before she got bored with us!

Later in the walk we took shots of red squirrels, another wonderful treat. I saw four today in two very different locations!

Last, but not least, it is mating season for toads and we saw lots and lots of them!
