Arts & Crafts

It was my lucky day! A few months ago, that Best
mate of mine had been gifted 2 admission tickets for Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House. A student on his Cabinet-making Course thought he would love to see the furniture in this place, He was right: he did!

This house was completed in 1910, in the middle of the Art Nouveau period (1890 -1910) in England. Having been an art student and particularly liking this period in my study of jewellery, I was thrilled to be taken here.

The furniture and artefacts were nicely displayed and labelled and we both raved about the attention to detail, The Mate in the furniture making and me in the glass and metal work, pewter inlays, intricate window latches and lead drainpipes.

A really nice way to spend a wet day!
